Melbourne AFLW to PLAY4BCNA

Kate Hore and Maddi Gay are ready to PLAY4BCNA for the Round 10 AFLW match v Carlton at Casey Fields on Saturday 12 March, 2022. In the last home and away match for the Melbourne AFLW season and celebrating Libby Birch's 50th game - there will be a sea of pink both on and off the field to show support for BCNA and Australians affected by breast cancer.

The Melbourne players will run onto the field through a special Guard of Honour with families and Pink Sports Day club representatives that have been affected by breast cancer.  The match day banner will also be a brilliant shade of pink with Breast cancer survivor Aimee Hind tossing the coin joined by her daughter Lexi, as the match day mascot and her family including mum Sam, also a breast cancer survivor.

BCNA is thrilled that the strong partnership spanning 17 years with the Melbourne Football Club is extending to the AFLW arena with a message to encourage local sporting clubs to get involved in Pink Sports Day and register to host their very own PLAY4BCNA match or round.  From footy, to basketball, netball, soccer, hockey and everything in between we can't wait to see the fields and courts of Australia 'in the pink' this year.  FIND OUT MORE

Pink Lady Match 2021

In 2021 the annual Pink Lady Match was held during Round 18 V Hawthorn at the MCG, with no crowd in attendance due to the COVID-19 lockdown.

For this year's Pink Lady Match fans were invited to help BCNA fill the virtual pink lady on the 'G and buy their place and help support all Australians affected by breast cancer.

The virtual place was a donation to BCNA and 100% tax deductible and did not represent a valid ticket to the Pink Lady Match. Virtual places were on sale from 1 July 12pm through until 18 July 6pm, 2021 and we are thrilled to announce that almost $260,000 was raised with over 10,000 virtual places purchased for the event.

As well as helping to fill the virtual pink lady on the 'G many fans got involved by pinking up at home! You can still pink up in your very own PLAY4BCNA beanie and order today for you or the whole team!

Players from across the AFL got behind BCNA wearing our Pink PLAY4BCNA beanies this season!

The 2020 AFL season was certainly different this year, with players and staff living in the ‘AFL hub’ on the Sunshine Coast for almost three months. Luckily, the team still managed to enjoy some Bakers Delight Pink Buns and get behind the campaign held in October 2020.

COVID-19 cancels Pink Lady match 2020 - Jack Viney Play4BCNA Beanies

The Pink Lady Match was unable to go ahead in May 2020 due to the break in play in the AFL season caused by the COVID-19 global pandemic. Melbourne Football Club Vice-Captain Jack Viney called on supporters to show their support by ‘‘pinking up’’ for Mother’s Day with a PLAY4BCNA beanie.
